About Me

I love to cook and more importantly, I like to improve the way I cook certain dishes. As such, this blog is borne out of a desire for a simple and organized way to manage the different variations of the dish that I tried. I will be posting recipes, pictures and comments on what works for me and what don’t. Hopefully, you will enjoy your time here, and do remember to give your feedback! Cooking is a constant evolution, a process and definitely not an end result!

[Guest Post] Food Supply Meals Your Children Will Actually Like by Annabelle Smyth

Food Supply Meals Your Children Will Actually Like

When it comes to providing your kids with the necessities of life, you want to make sure that the food
and water you give them is as safe and nourishing as you can. The same holds true during periods of
power outages or other emergencies. When local or national disaster strikes, unemployment or simply
hard times arrive, emergency storage foods should be tasty as well as nutritious. Preparing ahead won’t do any good if you can’t get your children to eat what you fix.

Typical storage foods often include an abundance of wheat, beans, rice, and powdered milk. You can
find these basic items at any food survival store. They will provide most of the vitamins and minerals
that a child needs on a daily basis if accompanied by canned or dried fruits and vegetables. They are
low in fat and high in calories and starches. The downside is that you might not know how to fix them so that your children won’t push them away. A better solution is to seek out storage foods that children will actually like to eat.

During difficult times when stress levels for both adults and children are high, comfort foods and foods your children are used to eating will be extremely important. Kid-friendly entrees such as macaroni and cheese, Beef Stroganoff, healthy soups, pancakes, and even enchiladas can help them to cope with the situation. When their normal life suddenly becomes disrupted by circumstances you cannot control, having strawberry-flavored Cream of Wheat for breakfast or real cheese in their potato soup for lunch will help them meet their nutritional needs as well as give them foods they can enjoy.

Finding these types of healthy storage meals isn’t as difficult as it sounds. Many food survival stores
such as Buy Emergency Foods provide convenient, stackable buckets filled with tasty, freeze-dried
meals your children will actually like. Many stores also offer freeze-dried foods in single and double-
serving pouches.

Comfort means different things to different people in the same way that taste does. Storing a few treats that your children are used to having will also help them to stay calm. Storing items that will make you and your children feel good can help you stand up and do whatever is needful to survive. Make sure to be wise about food storage and keep changing it out. While nutrition is important, retaining as much normalcy as you can with whatever you choose to store is just as essential to health and well-being.

Chinese Sharkfin Melon Soup
Don't be mistaken, this recipe is not using shark's fin as an ingredients, it is actually using <Shark's fin melon>. I believe the melon is named as Shark's fin Melon due to the resemblance of Shark's fin when it is cooked.

I have added some chinese herbal to increase the flavour of the soup.

  2. 5 cups of Water
  3. 1/4 or approx 350g Sharkfin Melon (Cut into big chunks)

  7. 3 pieces of Yu Zhu(Solomon's Seal Rhizome) - (Washed)
  8. 1 tablespoon of Gou Qi Zi(Wolfberry) - (Washed)
  9. 3 tablespoon of Light Soya Sauce (eg. Brand Tai Hua)
 Steps
  1. Boil Pork Ribs for a few minutes and drain it
  2. Put Pork Ribs into pot filled with approx 5 cups of water
  3. Add Ingredients no. 3 to7 into pot
  4. Boil it for 30 to 45 minutes
  5. Turn to low heat and boil for another 30 minutes
  6. Add Wolfberry and boil for 10 minutes
  7. Add Light Soya Sauce to taste (you can increase or reduce the quantity to your taste)
